CHARACTER NAME: Dr. Cristóbal Guerra
CHARACTER AGE: 39
BACKGROUND & HISTORY: Growing up, Cristóbal was always enraptured by his grandmother's tales of the small American city she grew up in, of the outsiders, their petty feuds and bitter betrayals, which caused her to flee back to her parents' homeland (although she never did tell him just whose death in that terrible fire triggered her final flight). They were only stories, though. After witnessing his father's death at the hands of a mugger when he was nine, Cristóbal's siren heritage took a back seat to one all-consuming obsession: to become a doctor, to fix people instead of fruitlessly manipulating them. After high school, leaving the family business of giving ferry tours around Santa Marta in the hands of his mother and five sisters, he moved to Bogotá to study medicine and eventually found himself a position as a neurosurgeon at the prestigious Hospital Universitario San Ignacio.
Still, his grandmother's stories stayed with him, and one day, he found himself turning down the opportunity to become surgeon-in-chief in order to move to Siren Cove and begin the process to begin practicing medicine in the US. Is he unsatisfied with his work? Just looking for a change after leaving his cheating wife, Alicia? Wanting to reconnect with his roots? Honestly, even he's not entirely certain.
